Global settings

Configure how AgentX handles incoming logs to manage congestion and prevent log loss during high-volume periods.

Prerequisites

  • AgentX Server installed in Logpoint

  • AgentX Manager installed in Logpoint

  • Administrator access to Logpoint

Procedure

  1. Go to Settings > Configuration and select AgentX.

  2. Select Global Settings.

  3. Select Enable Buffering to configure congestion control for incoming logs.

  4. In Max EPS, select the maximum number of events per second AgentX can forward to Logpoint.

  5. In Buffer Size, select the maximum number of logs AgentX can store in memory.

  6. Select Submit.

Expected outcome

AgentX applies the new settings immediately. When incoming logs exceed Max EPS, AgentX buffers them in memory up to the Buffer Size limit.

Verification

Monitor log ingestion during high-volume periods to confirm:

  • Logs continue to flow without gaps

  • No log loss messages appear in AgentX logs

  • Buffer size accommodates temporary traffic spikes

Configuration guidelines

Max EPS must be smaller than Buffer Size. If Max EPS equals or exceeds Buffer Size, AgentX cannot effectively buffer logs during traffic spikes.

Example configurations:

  • Low volume (< 1,000 EPS): Max EPS = 500, Buffer Size = 5,000

  • Medium volume (1,000-5,000 EPS): Max EPS = 2,000, Buffer Size = 20,000

  • High volume (> 5,000 EPS): Max EPS = 5,000, Buffer Size = 50,000
