Migrate from Logpoint Agent to AgentX

Migrate configurations from Logpoint Agent to AgentX to enable enhanced monitoring and response capabilities.

Prerequisites

  • Logpoint Agent installed and configured on Windows endpoints

  • At least one Windows device configured in Logpoint Agent

  • AgentX Client installed on the same Windows endpoints where Logpoint Agent is running

  • AgentX Server installed in Logpoint

  • AgentX Manager installed in Logpoint

  • Administrator access to Logpoint

  • The devices to migrate must not already be configured in AgentX

Before you begin

Migration breaks Logpoint Agent connections After migration, the connection between Logpoint and Logpoint Agent will be broken. Logs queued in Logpoint Agent during migration are not processed. Plan the migration during a maintenance window to minimize data loss.

Create AgentX-compatible processing policies Migration requires replacing Logpoint Agent processing policies with AgentX-compatible processing policies. Prepare these policies before starting migration.

Procedure

  1. Go to Settings > Configuration and select AgentX.

  2. Select Migrate.

  3. Review the migration information and select Yes to confirm.

  4. On the left side, review the Logpoint Agent processing policies.

  5. On the right side, select the corresponding AgentX-compatible processing policies for each Logpoint Agent policy.

  6. Verify that all policies are mapped correctly.

  7. Select Proceed with Migration.

Expected outcome

Logpoint displays a confirmation message when migration completes successfully. AgentX begins collecting logs from the migrated devices using the new processing policies.

Verification

  1. Go to Settings > Configuration > AgentX > Agents.

  2. Verify that the migrated endpoints appear in the AgentX agents list.

  3. Go to the Logpoint search interface.

  4. Run the following query:

Replace <hostname> with a migrated endpoint hostname.

Verify that AgentX logs appear for the endpoint.

Configuration guidelines

Test migration on a small subset Before migrating all devices, test the migration process on a small subset of non-critical devices to verify configuration mappings and troubleshoot issues.

Document policy mappings Document which Logpoint Agent policies map to which AgentX policies for future reference and troubleshooting.

Monitor for log gaps After migration, monitor for gaps in log collection. Some logs queued during migration may be lost.

Update alerting rules Review and update alerting rules that reference Logpoint Agent fields or data sources to use AgentX equivalents.

Rollback migration

If issues occur after migration, you can rollback to restore Logpoint Agent connections.

See Rollback AgentX migration.
