Config View

Config View is a graphical view in the Director Console where you can add new log sources and add entities to the graph for selected LogPoint instances from a centralized view.

Add a New Source

A source is a device that generates logs. You can add a new source and all the entities required to configure the source to a LogPoint setup from a single panel in Director Console.

  1. Go to Config View.

  2. Right-click the LogPoint node where you want to add a new source.

  3. Select Add New Source.

  4. Select the LogPoint instances from Select Configuration Location.

  5. Click Next.

  6. In the Create Device panel, enter all the necessary values.

    • Click the Add New Entity () icon to create a new entity that is not listed in the table.

    • Click the Refetch entry from Database () icon to update the entities from the database.

    • Refer to the Devices section for details on how to create a device.

  7. Click Next.

  8. Select Create Task for This Operation? to create a task for the operation.

  9. Select Navigate to The Tasks Page? to go to the Tasks page after completing the operation.

  10. Click Confirm. Click Download Report to save the summary of the tasks in PDF.

    If an operation fails, you can click Retry to perform the operation again or click Skip to skip the failed operation.

  11. Select a collector or a fetcher and configure it to the device created earlier.

  12. Click Next.

    Click Close-Workflow to end the process.

  13. In Selected Collector/Fetcher panel, enter all the necessary values.

    Refer to the Configuration section for details on how to create collectors/fetchers.

  14. Select Create Task for This Operation? to create a task for the operation.

  15. Select Navigate to The Tasks Page? to go to the Tasks page after completing the operation.

  16. Click Confirm. Click Download Report to save the summary of the tasks in PDF.

    You can continue to add new collectors and fetchers or click Close-Workflow to end the process.

Add Entities to the Graph

You can search for an entity in a LogPoint and add it to the graph. Once the entity is added to the graph, you can also search LogPoints where the entity with same name exists. You can also create new entities, collectors/fetchers, and add new source for these LogPoints.

  1. Go to Config View.

  2. Select the LogPoint where you want to add the entities in the graph.

  3. Select the Entity.

  4. Select the Name of the entity you want to add to the graph.

  5. Click Add to Graph.

  6. Right-click the added entity and select Machines with same entity.

  7. Right-click the entity and select Show in group to view the LogPoint instances in a group based on their versions.
